PPA-CI adopts new leadership structure under Laurent Gbagbo’s delegation
Former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo, current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), has announced a significant restructuring of his party’s leadership. In a strategic move, he delegated key presidential powers to five senior party officials, aiming to foster a more collaborative governance approach.
New roles and responsibilities assigned
The decision, outlined in an official PPA-CI communiqué, introduces a tiered leadership model where each appointee holds distinct yet complementary responsibilities. Assoa Adou has been named first vice-president, tasked with overseeing statutory compliance and internal regulations across all party bodies. Hubert Oulaye assumes the role of second vice-president, responsible for presiding over Central Committee meetings and ensuring smooth party operations.
Dano Djédjé Sébastien takes on the pivotal position of strategic and political council president, where he will direct the party’s overall management and policy direction. The remaining two appointees, though not explicitly named in the communiqué, are expected to play supporting roles in reinforcing the new governance framework.
Emphasis on collective leadership and unity
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Gbagbo underscored the rationale behind this delegation. “This redistribution of responsibilities reflects our commitment to a more inclusive leadership model, where collective strength and complementary roles drive our mission forward,” he explained. He emphasized that the PPA-CI’s success hinges not on a single individual but on the synergy among its leaders and members working cohesively toward shared objectives.
The former president further stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and coordinated action. “Together, we can overcome challenges. Through unity and disciplined collaboration, the PPA-CI will not only withstand adversity but also serve the Ivorian people more effectively,” he asserted.
