Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, personally witnessed the immediate effectiveness of the new electronic traffic violation enforcement system, merely twelve hours following its official activation. The innovative system, designed to automatically detect breaches of the Highway Code, commenced operations on August 1, 2026, precisely at midnight. By noon on the same day, the Minister, accompanied by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology, visited the Video Protection Supervision Center to monitor the process unfold in real time.

During his visit, the Minister commended the technical teams for their exceptional professionalism, acknowledging their pivotal contribution to implementing this groundbreaking initiative. Within just twelve hours of operation, a staggering 1,099 traffic infractions were logged. These violations encompassed a range of common offenses, such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic signals, exceeding speed limits, and using a mobile phone while driving. Notably, five offenders had already settled their fines through the FASO ARZEKA platform.

Mahamadou Sana underscored that these initial figures not only affirm the system’s full operational capability but also highlight the government’s steadfast commitment to leveraging digital technologies for enhanced road safety across Burkina Faso. The Ministry reiterates that strict adherence to the Highway Code remains the most effective strategy for preventing traffic violations and ensuring safer roads for everyone.
