Motion of no confidence: Ousmane Sonko ready to challenge Al Aminou Lo’s government

Motion de censure : Ousmane Sonko prêt à faire tomber le gouvernement d’Al Aminou Lo

Ousmane Sonko has issued a firm warning, indicating his readiness to file a motion of no confidence against the government. The prominent PASTEF leader unequivocally stated that his party would not hesitate to deploy this parliamentary mechanism to challenge practices deemed unacceptable.

During a gathering yesterday in Touba, held as part of PASTEF’s 48-hour event, Ousmane Sonko explicitly raised the specter of a no-confidence motion aimed at the government led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The influential leader of PASTEF cautioned that his political formation would readily resort to this parliamentary maneuver if it perceived that current governmental directions persisted.

“We will employ every legal avenue at our disposal, including the motion of no confidence, to bring down the government, and as many times as necessary,” Ousmane Sonko declared before an assembly of his party’s activists. The president of PASTEF justified this stance by asserting that his political movement could not condone practices that, in its view, contradict the fundamental principles for which its members have tirelessly fought.

“We have struggled for a decade, enduring sacrifices and losing martyrs. We will not permit such practices to take root,” he firmly maintained. Through this powerful statement, Ousmane Sonko positions the motion of no confidence as a central component of his party’s political strategy against the current administration. He considers this parliamentary recourse a legitimate means to oppose decisions he disapproves of, affirming PASTEF’s readiness to invoke it whenever circumstances demand such action within the political Sahel landscape.
