Ahoua don-mello launches new political party in Côte d’Ivoire
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, a prominent figure and former presidential candidate from the October 2025 elections, along with his core political associates, has initiated a significant new phase in their political journey. Following a plenary assembly held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Abidjan, the group formally commenced the process of establishing a new political party.
During the gathering, which brought together sympathizers and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign organizing committee, participants overwhelmingly endorsed a resolution to create a new political formation.
This pivotal decision emerged from the findings of a dedicated reflection commission. The commission, tasked with exploring the organizational prospects of the movement, presented its report to the assembly, recommending the creation of a structured political party to solidify and ensure the longevity of the initiatives undertaken by the former presidential hopeful.
Consequently, the assembly entrusted Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello with the mandate to steer the formation of this new political entity and to organize the forthcoming “Congress of Pioneers,” which is envisioned as the foundational event for the prospective party.
This initiative marks a strategic evolution, transforming the former candidate’s campaign team into a robust political organization. The nascent party aims to position itself as a dynamic force for progressive proposals, national unity, and democratic alternation. Its foundational principles will notably encompass values such as democracy, social justice, sound governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and the unwavering defense of national sovereignty.
Concluding the proceedings, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their trust and outlined the broad strategic directions of the political project. He also extended a compelling invitation to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to join this endeavor, with the ultimate goal of forging a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign.”
Preparatory work for the Congress of Pioneers is set to commence immediately, with the specific date for this landmark event to be announced promptly.
Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello had previously contested the October 2025 presidential election, having been expelled from the Parti des peuples africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), where he formerly served as vice-president.
