A decisive shift for Benin’s DGI as Parakou, Comè and Lokossa go online from 21 september 2026
Benin’s tax administration has reached a decisive turning point. From 21 September 2026, partner taxpayers attached to the small business tax centres of Parakou, Comè and Lokossa will progressively gain access to the DGI’s e-services platform — a move that pulls the country’s tax formalities further away from paper files and counter queues.
The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) is opening its online platform to partner taxpayers registered with the Small Business Tax Centres (CIPE) of the three cities, with a phased rollout beginning on 21 September 2026.
Three cities, one decisive step
The extension is aimed at partner taxpayers attached to the CIPEs of Parakou, Comè and Lokossa. It widens their access to the dematerialised tax services the administration already offers, turning a gradual modernisation effort into something concrete for local businesses.
Beyond the three cities themselves, the operation signals that the digital route is no longer reserved for a handful of urban centres, but is becoming the standard path for taxpayers across more of Benin.
What taxpayers will be able to do online
The procedures placed within reach cover filing obligations and tax payments, as well as access to certain supporting documents. Taxpayers will also be able to obtain key tax papers remotely, most notably payment receipts and tax compliance certificates.
The administration’s stated objective is twofold: to reduce trips to tax offices and to lighten the administrative burden that comes with those formalities. To make the change work on the ground, awareness campaigns and training sessions are planned for the taxpayers concerned, so that the switch to digital does not leave anyone behind.
A rollout calendar built around three dates
The timetable is divided into three stages, each tied to a specific city:
- Parakou opens the sequence on 21 september 2026.
- Comè follows one week later, on 28 september 2026.
- Lokossa closes the rollout on 5 october 2026.
On each of those deadlines, the taxpayers concerned will be able to carry out their procedures directly on the DGI’s e-services platform.
Parakou takes the first step
Parakou is the first of the three cities to come online, with its operational launch set for 21 September 2026 — the date that kicks off the whole extension.
Comè steps in a week later
Comè is scheduled for 28 September 2026, exactly seven days after Parakou, as the second stage of the deployment.
Lokossa completes the trio in october
Lokossa, the last of the three, is set for 5 October 2026, bringing the initial wave to a close.
A milestone in Benin’s tax digitalisation
This extension fits into the gradual dematerialisation of tax procedures under way in Benin. For the partner taxpayers involved, the first operational deadline is 21 September 2026 in Parakou, followed by Comè a week later and Lokossa on 5 October — three dates that mark a clear acceleration in the country’s shift to online tax services.
