Ministers Ibrahima Sy, Yankhoba Diémé, and Alioune Dione have decisively severed ties with Pastef. These individuals, who were active proponents alongside Ousmane Sonko prior to his departure from the prime minister’s office, have now clearly articulated their political path forward.

Their decision was unequivocal. Despite their history as staunch adversaries of Macky Sall and strong supporters of Ousmane Sonko’s cause just a few years ago, they have now chosen to align with “the Republic” rather than pursuing what they perceive as personal interests. This move highlights a dynamic evolution in the political Sahel.

“Pastef is now devoid of substance. It has become an empty shell,” declared Yankhoba Diémé, who previously served as Pastef’s departmental coordinator in Bignona, delivering a pointed critique. Echoing this sentiment, Alioune Dione, a former Pastef political leader in Diourbel, affirmed, “I, along with all my colleagues, commit to joining and actively participating in President Diomaye’s new party.”
