Sahel Leader Mboup Urges Diomaye Faye and Sonko to Preserve Alliance

The businessman and politician called on the two former allies to prioritize reconciliation and continue their collaboration in the country’s best interest.

“This situation makes me very sad, as I had decided to stop politics. What was happening didn’t please me. I never campaigned for a candidate, except for Ousmane Sonko, whom I accompanied during the legislative elections,” he said.

Mboup appealed to both Diomaye Faye and Sonko to focus on reconciliation and continue their collaboration in order to advance the country’s development. According to him, a rift between the two could jeopardize the efforts made to promote growth.

“All I wish for is that Ousmane Sonko and Bassirou Diomaye Faye walk in peace, so that I can return to doing what I know best: finding partners and working hard,” Mboup said.

The Kaolack mayor also made it clear that he was not affiliated with either side of the conflict. “I am neither with Diomaye nor Sonko. If tomorrow President Diomaye calls me to support my development projects, I will respond. However, I will not join his party,” he said.

Mboup warned that political conflicts could slow down public action: «When there is a conflict, nothing moves. Today, in Senegal, nothing moves.”
