The Kingdom of Morocco has firmly established itself as a leading political, economic, and social force across Africa, the Arab world, the Mediterranean basin, and beyond, according to Anissa Saysay, German-Moroccan politician and member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
In a recent interview marking Morocco’s Throne Day, Ms. Saysay highlighted how the nation’s modernization journey—spearheaded by His Majesty King Mohammed VI—has transformed it into a modern, stable state widely respected on the global stage. This progress stems from a long-term vision, substantial investments in infrastructure, and a commitment to economic sovereignty, she noted.
The Kingdom’s strategic planning is evident in its world-class ports, high-speed rail networks, international airports, industrial and technological hubs, and thriving automotive and aerospace sectors, all of which underscore its dedication to sustainable growth.
Morocco’s unique geographic and cultural position bridges Europe, Africa, and the Arab world, granting it a pivotal role in regional and international affairs, Ms. Saysay emphasized. Its leadership extends to the energy transition, where it stands as a pioneer in Africa and a key partner for Europe in sustainable development.
On the social front, she praised Morocco’s strides in expanding healthcare access, education, and women’s rights, alongside its robust social protection systems. Turning to bilateral relations, Ms. Saysay underscored the strengthening partnership between Morocco and Germany, calling it a cornerstone of stability and progress in North Africa.
Germany, she argued, serves as a critical ally for Morocco in advanced technology, industrial innovation, vocational training, research, climate action, and green energy. Conversely, Morocco offers Germany a reliable partner in North Africa, thanks to its strategic location, economic dynamism, and stability.
The foundation of this collaboration, she stressed, is a partnership of equals built on mutual respect, shared interests, and transparent political dialogue. Within this framework, binational citizens play a vital role by fostering investment, knowledge exchange, academic partnerships, and social dialogue, merging German institutional expertise with Moroccan creativity and regional networks.
She further noted that Throne Day is far more than a national celebration—it is a powerful bond uniting Moroccans worldwide with their homeland, its rich history, and the transformative progress achieved under the King’s visionary leadership.
