Mali’s security forces bolster capabilities with national logistics investment

The Ministry of Security and Civil Protection recently enhanced the operational capabilities of Mali’s Security Forces by delivering twenty new vehicles and specialized equipment. This significant acquisition, entirely financed through the national budget, underscores the nation’s commitment to strengthening its defense infrastructure. The handover ceremony, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, was presided over by Major General Daoud Aly Mohammedine.

The comprehensive range of equipment distributed includes six 60-seater buses, a robust recovery vehicle, two 20,000-liter Spiros trucks, eight 4,000-liter fire tanker trucks, and three substantial 50,000-liter pump-tender fire trucks. These vital assets have been strategically allocated among key security institutions: the National Police, Civil Protection, National Gendarmerie, National Guard, and the Security Forces Staff College, aiming to improve security Sahel operations.

During the event, Major General Mohammedine emphasized that these procurements directly reflect the unwavering resolve of the President of the Transition, General of the Army Assimi, to fortify the operational strength of Mali’s Armed and Security Forces. The objective is to cultivate a secure environment that aligns with the aspirations of the Malian populace. He further highlighted the critical role of advanced logistics in boosting the mobility and responsiveness of security personnel when confronting various threats, a crucial aspect of West Africa Sahel news.

Brigadier General Boucary Kodio, who serves as the Director General of Civil Protection, articulated the beneficiaries’ strong commitment to diligently manage and maintain these new assets. The ceremony concluded with an impressive live demonstration of the fire tanker trucks, showcasing their effectiveness and readiness for emergency situations.
