Diplomatic outreach: Madagascar strengthens ties with Chad and african partners

Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, the head of state, recently embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to N’Djamena, Chad. The core objectives of his visit were to fortify bilateral relations between the two nations and to engage with the Malagasy diaspora residing in the Central African country. A crucial gathering brought together approximately twenty Malagasy expatriates, with the Colonel emphasizing, “The diaspora represents a vital asset for Madagascar. Their skills and contributions must be further recognized and leveraged.”

Beyond this important interaction with the Malagasy community, the trip was also designed to inject new vitality into economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Discussions highlighted the importance of circulating expertise and sharing valuable experiences as key mechanisms to amplify Madagascar’s presence and influence across the African continent.

A significant highlight of the visit was Colonel Randrianirina’s participation in the 66th anniversary celebrations of Chad’s independence, held yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the festivities at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, and was joined by General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. Reflecting on the occasion, the head of state characterized the meeting as an invaluable opportunity to “deepen intra-African cooperation.” He further revealed that “the Chadian President has expressed his readiness to visit Madagascar to engage in discussions and pinpoint avenues for enhanced collaboration between our two countries.”
