Côte d’Ivoire Gains Ground in Governance and Reform Efforts

The MAEP Recognizes Côte d’Ivoire’s Progress

The African Partnership Mechanism (MAEP) has commended the efforts of Côte d’Ivoire towards stability, political transformation, and institutional reforms.

During a visit to Abidjan, Director General Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre praised the progress made by Côte d’Ivoire in consolidating its stability, transforming its economy, implementing institution reforms, and taking leadership roles within the region.

‘We salute the significant efforts made by Côte d’Ivoire towards stabilizing its politics, transforming its economy, implementing institutional reforms, and demonstrating regional leadership. These gains provide a solid foundation for our second-generation evaluation,’ Rose-Quatre stated during her visit to Abidjan’s Commission Nationale du MAEP.

During her two-day stay in Côte d’Ivoire, Director General Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre expressed her institution’s commitment to supporting the country throughout its preparations for a second-generation evaluation. This would involve examining and finalizing the country’s roadmap, identifying remaining preparatory steps, and agreeing on concrete measures to launch the evaluation under optimal conditions.

‘The Secretariat Continental remains fully committed to providing Côte d’Ivoire with all necessary technical assistance and institutional support throughout this process. We consider this collaboration a true partnership built upon trust, dialogue, and our shared commitment to strengthening governance in Africa,’ Rose-Quatre stated.

PR David Moussa Soro, the President of Commission Nationale du MAEP, also highlighted his institution’s goal of placing governance at the service of Côte d’Ivoire’s development. ‘Governance and development in Côte d’Ivoire advance hand-in-hand,’ he emphasized.

‘We have developed two instruments to share experiences, namely an annual university event for good governance and a scientific review on African integration and governance. The first initiative aims to disseminate the culture of good governance to the general population, while the second targets the academic world, providing a platform for publishing scholarly articles on governance issues that comply with the CAMES protocol,’ Soro outlined.

The commission’s President has pledged their institution’s willingness to support Rose-Quatre during her visit. During her stay, she will be met by the Ivoirian Senate and engage in discussions with Nialé Kaba, the country’s Foreign Minister.

The MAEP was founded in 2003 as a voluntary agreement among African states aimed at evaluating and revising governance at the level of heads of state to promote political stability, economic integration, economic growth, and sustainable development.
