Chad’s government is escalating efforts to combat human trafficking, with a sharp focus on women and children, by enforcing existing laws with greater rigor. A circular note has been distributed to security and justice officials, underscoring the urgency of the issue and outlining mandatory actions.

Human trafficking remains a severe human rights violation, frequently involving sexual exploitation and forced labor. As a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, Chad has implemented key legislation to tackle this scourge, including Ordinance Nº006/PR/2018 and Law Nº12/PR/2018.

Under the new directives, authorities are required to conduct swift investigations, document findings meticulously, and transfer cases to competent courts without delay. Each case must also be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking for rigorous oversight.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with ensuring strict adherence to these guidelines. The initiative aims to establish a national database to support the development of an effective anti-trafficking policy in Chad.
