Benin and Morocco Pledge to Strengthen Cooperation

The Republic of Benin and the Kingdom of Morocco expressed their satisfaction with the state of their bilateral cooperation during a meeting in Cotonou, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening and diversifying it further.

During talks ahead of the co-presidency of the two countries at the 7th session of the Mixed Commission of Bilateral Cooperation between Morocco and Benin, the Foreign Minister of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, and the Beninese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Corinne Amori Brunet, accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Mobilizing Resources and Debt Management, Hugues Oscar Lokossou, congratulated themselves on the significant progress made in various areas of cooperation since the visit of King Mohammed VI to Cotonou in June 2004.

These talks also covered the state of bilateral relations and the examination of new avenues to inject a new dynamism into them. They were an opportunity for the two countries to celebrate their deep-rooted fraternal friendship and traditional ties, as well as the mutual respect between King Mohammed VI and President Romuald Wadagni. Moreover, they expressed the shared desire to make Benino-Marocan partnerships a model of exceptional African inter-cooperation, founded on values of solidarity, exchange, and sharing.

Furthermore, the two sides identified a portfolio of promising sectors, including economy, trade, industry, investments, tourism, agriculture, justice, security, vocational training, higher education, scientific research, as well as health, digitalization, and culture.

In addition, Morocco and Benin reiterated their determination to establish a solid economic partnership mobilizing the private sector of both countries, inviting it to play a key role in strengthening their trade exchanges and contributing to development financing.
