The most decorated club in Portugal is said to be preparing a substantial offer of €20 million, potentially supplemented by an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses. This proposed package from Benfica would align perfectly with FC Bayern’s valuation of Palhinha, set at €25 million.

Should this transfer materialize, it is poised to create significant buzz within Portuguese football circles. Palhinha developed through the youth ranks of Sporting CP, Benfica’s fierce cross-city rival, where he made 95 official appearances. Intriguingly, prior to a Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Benfica in autumn 2024, he described the encounter as a “special match,” unexpectedly revealing that despite his Sporting roots, his family members were “mostly Benfica supporters.”
The midfielder has openly indicated his willingness to move to the red side of Lisbon. At Benfica, he would reunite with manager Marco Silva, under whom he previously played at Fulham in the Premier League before his move to Munich.

Despite this, the London club, having narrowly avoided relegation, ultimately decided against exercising their agreed-upon purchase option.
Should the transfer to Benfica proceed, Palhinha would mark the fifth former loan player Bayern has permanently offloaded this summer. This follows the departures of Alexander Nübel to Besiktas, Daniel Peretz to Southampton, Maurice Krattenmacher to Elversberg, and Jonah Kusi-Asare to Fulham.
