Yaoundé’s Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has announced a sweeping promotional sales campaign for essential goods in the capital.

The initiative, launching on June 22 and running through September 30, 2026, will unfold along Boulevard du 20 Mai. This strategic location was chosen to maximize accessibility for the city’s residents.

The campaign aligns with the government’s broader mission to combat rising living costs while supporting households during peak spending periods. Two key objectives drive this initiative: first, easing financial pressure on families during the summer break, and second, ensuring affordable school supplies are available ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Commerce explained that this promotional effort represents a partnership with citizen-led enterprises to deliver tangible benefits to consumers. Mbarga Atangana emphasized the campaign’s potential to extend beyond Yaoundé, with mobile promotional caravans planned for major urban centers nationwide.

«This initiative demonstrates our commitment to making essential goods accessible while supporting economic resilience across Cameroon,» the Minister noted.
