FC Nantes has avoided point deductions to start their Ligue 2 campaign. The disciplinary body of France’s professional football league (LFP) handed down a one-match behind-closed-doors ban at the Beaujoire stadium, coupled with a two-game closure of the Loire stand. The committee also officially confirmed the 0-0 score from the abandoned match against Toulouse on May 17 as the final result.
The sanctions follow incidents in the closing stages of the match when Nantes supporters invaded the pitch to protest the club’s relegation to Ligue 2. The referee had halted play due to the unsafe conditions.
