Morocco-Mauritania military cooperation under the spotlight in Nouakchott visit

During an official visit to Nouakchott, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, met with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani. The encounter took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by an official statement from the Royal Armed Forces General Staff.

Later that day, General Berrid visited the Ministry of Defense headquarters, where Mauritanian Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi awarded him the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit on behalf of the Mauritanian President.

A key highlight of the visit was the joint chairing of the sixth session of the Morocco-Mauritania Joint Military Commission by General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff. During the discussions, both sides highlighted the strong and productive military cooperation between the two nations, calling it a shining example of strategic partnership.
