His decision comes as a direct response to the exclusion of Ousmane Sonko from government, a figure he and many others view as the embodiment of the transformative vision once promised by the Pastef movement.

Mor Tallah Gueye made his departure public with a statement that leaves no room for ambiguity. “I am stepping down from my role as Chairman of the FDCUIC Board,” he declared. “We believed in sovereignty, in challenging the entrenched system, and in the urgent need for genuine change. This is the project that Pastef championed, and it is this vision we pledged to uphold—values we have defended tirelessly.”

He went on to highlight the stark contrast between the ideals that once inspired a nation and the current reality. “Today, the very person who symbolized that project, Ousmane Sonko, no longer holds a position in the executive. Meanwhile, the very system we fought against is creeping back, stronger than ever. I refuse to be complicit in this regression,” he emphasized. “Our struggle continues—for a Senegal that is just, sovereign, and true to the ideals that once ignited the hope of an entire people.”

In his closing remarks, Mor Tallah Gueye framed his resignation not as a retreat but as a reaffirmation of principle. “I leave my post with the unwavering belief that commitment is not measured by titles but by the fidelity to one’s convictions.”

His exit follows closely on the heels of another high-profile departure: the resignation of the coordinator of Jeunesse Patriotique du Sénégal in Touba, who had previously stepped down from a presidential advisory role in a similar show of loyalty to Ousmane Sonko. These departures, occurring in opposition to the prevailing trend of alignments with the presidential camp, vividly illustrate the growing schism within Pastef. The movement, once united under a shared vision, now finds itself fractured between those who remain loyal to the government and those who steadfastly support the former Prime Minister.
