Inside the Bambali agro park: what really drives Sadio Mané’s 11.7 billion FCFA gamble
Ousmane Sonko travelled to Bambali, in the Sédhiou region, after accepting an invitation from Sadio Mané, to attend the launch ceremony of the Senegalese striker’s agro-industrial project.
The speaker of the national assembly took part in the event alongside several officials, including trade minister Serigne Guèye Diop. On his arrival, he was received by Sadio Mané, the promoter behind SM10 Agro.
The financial architecture behind an 11.7 billion FCFA investment
The Bambali agro-industrial park is driven by Sadio Mané and is meant to support the processing of local agricultural products, mango in particular. Figures presented around the project put the announced investment at 11.7 billion FCFA.
The laying of the foundation stone officially marks the start of construction in the footballer’s home village.
Why the focus falls on agricultural processing
The future complex is expected to strengthen the region’s capacity to handle and process mango. Its promoters announce a processing capacity of 8,500 tonnes per year and the creation of more than 1,000 direct jobs, with a target of 2,500 jobs over time.
The initiative is designed to develop the value of local agricultural output and to support economic activity in the Sédhiou region.
