Côte d’Ivoire’s 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa campaign launches with new farm-gate price announcements

Abidjan, August 31, 2026 – The 2026-2027 coffee and cocoa marketing season in Côte d’Ivoire is officially commencing on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This significant launch coincides with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC), scheduled to take place at the prestigious Abidjan Exhibition Park, where the crucial farm-gate prices for the upcoming campaign will be unveiled.

The highly anticipated new prices are expected to be announced by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, acting on behalf of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, signaling the government’s commitment to the sector.

Previous campaign’s pricing and market dynamics

For the main 2025-2026 campaign, which spanned from October 2025 to February 2026, the farm-gate price for cocoa had reached an unprecedented high of 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, running from March to August 2026, saw a reduction in this price to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This adjustment was a direct consequence of declining cocoa prices on the international market.

Côte d’Ivoire firmly maintains its position as the world’s leading cocoa producer, contributing an estimated 40% of the global supply. The nation’s total production for the 2025-2026 campaign was estimated at nearly 2.2 million tonnes. This period was notably characterized by significant volatility in exports and the government’s intervention to repurchase approximately 123,000 tonnes of residual beans amidst a temporary slowdown in global market commercialization.

Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 campaign, production forecasts indicate potential challenges. Climatic constraints and the aging of cocoa plantations could negatively impact yields. Consequently, some market projections anticipate a decrease in Ivorian cocoa production, potentially falling to around 1.8 million tonnes.
