Senegal’s Culture Minister and PASTEF strategist Amadou Ba has pushed back against journalist Madiambal Diagne’s claim that Ousmane Sonko had resigned from the Prime Minister’s office.
In a social media statement, Ba linked Diagne’s announcement to the circulation of a disputed resignation letter supposedly signed by an anonymous PASTEF activist—a document already debunked by party officials.

Ba emphasized that there is no coincidence between the two incidents and suggested that certain actors may be fabricating evidence to trigger defamation lawsuits as part of a broader strategy to bolster political asylum bids.
He also stressed that PASTEF’s primary focus remains the upcoming party congress, urging members to prioritize organizational matters over baseless rumors.
Diagne’s initial claim about Sonko’s resignation has already been refuted by multiple PASTEF leaders. At this time, neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor the Presidency has issued any official confirmation.
