The match, scheduled for August 22, is part of Lyon’s Champions League qualification process. However, the league has refused to accommodate the request, citing concerns over the calendar.
As a result, Lyon will have to play their first Ligue 1 match while also participating in Champions League matches.
The league’s decision comes after Paris Saint-Germain and Strasbourg made similar requests earlier this year.
