Cameroon’s national assembly sees over 20 top officials installed by secretary general essian
At the National Assembly of Cameroon, Secretary General André Noël Essian has officially installed more than 20 high-ranking officials. These appointments were made by President Théodore Datouo, marking a significant step in the legislative body’s administrative structure.
This installation ceremony followed the inauguration of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year. Secretary General André Noël Essian presided over the event, formally inducting the new officials into their respective roles.
The newly appointed senior executives will serve within the services of the National Assembly’s questure and its general secretariat. Their official assumption of duties reinforces the operational capacity of the national representation.
Since his election as President of the National Assembly in March, Théodore Datouo has initiated numerous appointments. However, these decisions have not been met with universal approval, drawing criticism from some segments of public opinion. Concerns have been raised, specifically alleging that the successor to Cavaye Yeguié Djibril did not adequately consider regional balance in his selection process.
