The United States and Benin have solidified their strategic alliance in the realm of defense. General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently held discussions at the Pentagon with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.

At the core of their dialogue were joint security initiatives and the military assistance extended by Washington, notably facilitated through the U.S. Africa Command (Africom).

Both high-ranking officials underscored the pivotal importance of a stable, secure, and democratic Benin for ensuring broader regional peace. They committed to deepening their military cooperation and to working collaboratively with partners across the region to effectively counter transnational threats and cultivate enduring stability.
