Peru backs Morocco’s autonomy plan and territorial integrity

Peru’s incoming government has pledged unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces, as confirmed by the office of President-elect Keiko Fujimori.

The commitment was formally expressed during a meeting between President-elect Fujimori and Morocco’s Ambassador to Peru, Amin Chaoudri, who presented a congratulatory message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI following her election victory.

During this high-level exchange, Peru’s upcoming administration emphasized its full endorsement of Morocco’s territorial sovereignty, particularly regarding its southern provinces. Keiko Fujimori also reaffirmed her government’s adherence to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the sole basis for a definitive resolution to the regional dispute over the Sahara.

In his congratulatory message, King Mohammed VI extended warm wishes to President-elect Fujimori, praising the Peruvian people’s confidence in her leadership to advance progress and prosperity.

Highlighting the strong bonds between Morocco and Peru built on mutual respect and shared values, the King expressed his determination to collaborate closely with the new Peruvian leadership to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive multidimensional partnership, serving the interests of both nations.
