Ousmane Sonko returns to Senegal’s National Assembly with strong support from his Pastef party colleagues, despite recent political rifts with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, both from the same political movement.
The new Assembly Speaker received a standing ovation from his party’s 130 deputies out of 165 seats in parliament. He replaces El Malick Ndiaye, who resigned on Sunday.
