A bold declaration has been made by the leader of PASTEF-Les patriotes through a fresh social media post.

This time, Ousmane Sonko revealed that consultations were held between himself and the President of the Republic. However, these discussions failed to resolve key disagreements.

«This morning, a lengthy meeting took place between the President of the Republic and President Ousmane Sonko. While some areas of agreement were confirmed, significant points of disagreement remain—particularly concerning the role and position of the majority within the executive framework, whose structure remains unclear,» Sonko stated.

He added, «Consequently, PASTEF-Les Patriotes will not participate in the upcoming government and will not be represented by any ministers.»

Statement from PASTEF’s Executive Committee

In a spirit of responsibility and in line with the commitments of the Party’s Executive Committee (COMEX), reiterated by President Ousmane Sonko during his installation at the National Assembly, PASTEF-Les Patriotes engaged in multiple discussions with the President of the Republic regarding the formation of the new government.

This morning, a lengthy meeting took place between the President of the Republic and President Ousmane Sonko. While some areas of agreement were confirmed, significant points of disagreement remain—particularly concerning the role and position of the majority within the executive framework, whose structure remains unclear.

Following the debriefing to the Party’s governing bodies, new proposals were presented to the President of the Republic, but no favorable response was received.

As a result, PASTEF-Les Patriotes will not participate in the upcoming government and will not be represented by any ministers.
