N’Djaména clears public roads in 7th district to boost safety

The municipal authorities of the 7th district in N’Djaména have initiated a sweeping operation on Taïwan Avenue to reclaim public thoroughfares from unauthorized encroachments. The campaign, launched on May 25, aims to clear illegally occupied spaces, thereby enhancing traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and urban aesthetics in this central part of the city.

Under the direct supervision of the district mayor, the enforcement drive targets unauthorized market stalls cluttering the roads, stray livestock disrupting traffic, and other forms of road obstruction that contribute to congestion and road accidents.

In a public address, the mayor of the 7th district, Adoum Hassan Djimet, emphasized the critical need for this intervention, citing daily traffic disruptions and preventable fatalities caused by unregulated use of public spaces. « Public roads must remain accessible. Every resident has a role to play in this transformation. Each day, lives are lost because reckless obstructions block essential routes, » he stated.

He also issued a stern warning to those violating regulations, announcing rigorous measures against repeat offenders. « Anyone found illegally occupying public roads will face legal consequences. Their goods will be confiscated, and stray animals will be impounded, » he declared.
