Morocco-india economic forum 2026 in Rabat strengthens bilateral ties

Rabat recently hosted the Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, an important event spearheaded by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK). This significant gathering was organized in close collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The high-profile forum convened an influential Indian delegation, comprising 21 top business leaders from crucial strategic sectors. They met with Moroccan economic stakeholders representing various industries, all with the shared objective of identifying opportunities for forging lasting partnerships and securing mutually beneficial investments.

During the proceedings, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, underscored that the enduring friendship between Morocco and India has blossomed into a robust and increasingly diversified economic partnership.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted that high-level ministerial initiatives and the various memoranda of understanding signed across strategic domains serve as clear indicators of the dynamic political ties binding the two nations.

He further noted that the presence of an Indian business delegation, featuring executives from sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, signals a growing interest from Indian investors in the Moroccan market.

The vitality of bilateral exchanges is particularly evident in the expanding volume of economic trade between Morocco and India. Sakhi emphasized Morocco’s strong desire to further enhance this momentum, recognizing India as a crucial trade ally boasting extensive technological and industrial expertise.

For his part, Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, expressed his conviction that both countries possess the capacity to construct a powerful partnership that could connect India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He specifically lauded Morocco’s significant potential and substantial capabilities.

Puri particularly commended the numerous prospects Morocco offers, especially in areas like renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He pointed out that the Kingdom provides an ideal platform for businesses from both nations to execute diverse projects and advance technological development.

The forum’s agenda included the screening of an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment opportunities within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.

A key outcome of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, designed to boost commercial exchanges, investments, and industrial collaborations between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.

The forum concluded with a dedicated networking session and a series of B2B meetings, facilitating direct interactions between members of both delegations.
