Aïssata Tall Sall urges Senegal opposition to unite against current regime
The founding congress of Senegal’s Taxawu Sénégal party, led by Khalifa Sall, provided a platform for Aïssata Tall Sall to deliver a sharply critical address aimed at the nation’s ruling administration. Her speech underscored the urgent need for political strategy, unity, and a strategic push from the opposition to reclaim influence.
In her remarks, the former minister did not mince words when addressing the government. « These individuals claim they are not the legitimate authority, » she declared. « Already, it’s clear they lack the qualities of true leadership—they are neither rulers nor statesmen. » Her words carried a tone of defiance, emphasizing that the opposition must remain resolute and organized in their political maneuvers.
Aïssata Tall Sall went on to stress the importance of courage and intelligence in politics. « Stand tall, always with dignity, » she advised. « Courage is essential, and we possess it. Intelligence is essential, and we have it. But strategy? That is the cornerstone of success for Senegal. We must act with precision and purpose. »
Looking ahead to upcoming elections, she issued a rallying cry for a gradual but forceful demonstration of opposition strength. « When the time comes—after local elections, after legislative polls—we will prove our might, » she affirmed. « And when presidential elections arrive, we will demonstrate it once more. »
In closing, she turned to the assembled activists, offering words of encouragement and solidarity. « I wish you luck, » she told them. « May our prayers and support surround you wherever you stand. You are in the right place with your comrades. Together, we will march toward victory and seize the power that is rightfully ours. »
