Tchad celebrates its 66th independence anniversary with military parade
N’Djaména’s bustling Place de la Nation transformed into a stage of national pride as Tchad commemorated the 66th anniversary of its independence this past Tuesday, August 11. The milestone was celebrated not only in the capital but also in key cities nationwide, with a series of vibrant ceremonies and a highly anticipated military parade.
Military display showcases Tchad’s defense capabilities
Under the watchful gaze of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the parade unfolded in N’Djaména, featuring an impressive showcase of the nation’s defense and security forces. Joining the President were two distinguished guests of honor: Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, head of Madagascar’s Refondation de la République, and General Horta Inta-A, leader of Guinea-Bissau’s transitional government.
The hour-long procession highlighted the strength and readiness of Tchad’s armed forces, now numbering over 5,000 personnel, as confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
