Serigne habib sy formally joins pastef with ousmane sonko in tivaouane
During a recent meeting with Ousmane Sonko in Diaksao, Serigne Habib Sy declared his official allegiance to Pastef. He conveyed his intent to acquire a membership card, thereby publicly affirming his support for the political party spearheaded by Sonko.
Prior to the upcoming Mawlid celebrations in Tivaouane, Ousmane Sonko, who serves as both President of the National Assembly and the leader of Pastef, made a visit to Diaksao. This visit was part of his customary engagements with influential religious figures. Serigne Habib Sy hosted Sonko, seizing the moment to openly declare his affiliation with the current ruling party.
Addressing his distinguished guest, the respected religious guide unequivocally stated his desire to formalize his membership with Pastef. “I am already a member of Pastef,” Serigne Habib Sy affirmed. “I plan to purchase a membership card shortly, though I am unsure of the process to join through the online platform.” In response, Ousmane Sonko promptly pledged to streamline the procedure. “I will personally deliver your membership card to you,” the Pastef leader assured him.
Serigne Habib Sy’s announcement reflects a continuation of his longstanding civic involvement. The son of the late Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh notably became associated with the “Y en a marre” movement in February 2021. Several years on, he is now publicly aligning himself with Pastef, signaling his firm intention to formally enroll as a party member.
