Eight people killed and one injured in a suspected Boko Haram assault on a remote village in Cameroon’s Far North region
The brutal nighttime attack unfolded just past 11:00 PM on Friday in Kangaleri, a village within the Mayo-Sava department, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Initial reports indicate six individuals were killed instantly, while three others sustained severe injuries. Two of the wounded later died in medical care, pushing the provisional death toll to eight. One survivor remains hospitalized as of Saturday, according to local officials.
The attackers, operating under the cover of darkness, swiftly overran the village before vanishing into the night. Authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the victims or the full sequence of events that unfolded during the raid.

A second jihadist incursion was reported the same night in Tourou, a town in the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Witnesses claim the assailants looted valuables and livestock before wrecking a local market situated close to the town center. No casualties have been reported for this incident so far.
Despite ongoing military operations by Cameroon’s armed forces and the Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad basin, the Far North region continues to face persistent threats from Boko Haram fighters and splinter groups.
