N’Djamena agreement bolsters Algeria-Chad infrastructure collaboration

A significant agreement was formalized this Thursday in N’Djamena between Algeria and Chad, designed to streamline and expedite collaborative initiatives in public works and crucial infrastructure development. This landmark pact aims to fortify the existing partnership between the two nations and rapidly implement previous commitments made in April.

The signing ceremony saw Abdelkader Djellaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Amir Idriss Kourda, Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance, affix their signatures. This pivotal moment occurred during a high-level coordination meeting held in N’Djamena, marking the second day of the Algerian delegation’s official working visit to Chad.

Key figures from both sides participated in the discussions. Representing Algeria were the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior executives from the Cosider Group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP). Chad’s delegation included its Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several high-ranking officials.

During the gathering, the Chadian Minister highlighted the “rapid dynamic” currently characterizing the execution of bilateral agreements. He specifically commended the tangible progress achieved since the initial accords were inked on April 22nd in Algiers. This advancement is particularly evident in the reciprocal technical visits undertaken and the initiation of feasibility studies for the ambitious Trans-Saharan Road project, which will traverse Chadian territory.
