Celebrating Franco-Tchadian friendship on French National Day
A vibrant gathering at the French residence in N’Djamena marked the French National Day, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between France and Chad. The event, held on the evening of July 14, brought together diplomats, military leaders, and civil society representatives to honor shared values and cooperation.
Diplomatic and cultural exchange
The ceremony, attended by Ambassador Éric Gérard and high-ranking officials from Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, showcased the enduring partnership between the two nations. Representatives from the diplomatic corps, French expatriates, and local institutions joined in commemorating the occasion, reinforcing bonds of mutual respect and collaboration.
Following the national anthems of both countries, Ambassador Gérard delivered a speech highlighting the significance of Bastille Day in French history. Gérard highlighted the breadth of current collaborations, noting 39 active projects spanning water supply, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and youth initiatives. He referenced the January 2026 meeting between the heads of state of both countries as a pivotal moment in redefining their alliance.
The ambassador also underscored the importance of the Tchad Connexion 2030 development plan, aligning with France’s support for Chad’s long-term growth. The event concluded with a renewed appreciation for the strategic partnership shaping the future of both nations.
