Morocco underscores commitment to safeguarding children in conflict zones

Morocco recently reaffirmed its steadfast dedication before the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (AU PSC), emphasizing the critical need to bolster protections for children impacted by armed conflicts. The nation’s focus remains squarely on preventing their recruitment, ensuring their immediate safety, and facilitating their sustainable reintegration into society.

During an AU PSC session convened to discuss the pressing issue of “protecting child soldiers in Africa,” the Moroccan delegation highlighted that children continue to bear the brunt of ongoing conflicts across the continent. They are disproportionately vulnerable to forced recruitment, endure severe violence, and face significant disruptions to their education, all of which profoundly jeopardize their long-term prospects and well-being.
