Chad advances digital education transformation with national strategy blueprint

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training convened a landmark national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report as the first step toward crafting Chad’s National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

This pivotal gathering brought together key education stakeholders to review, enhance and finalize a document that will underpin the country’s future policy for TVET digitalization. The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by organizations including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank and multiple development partners.

The comprehensive baseline study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supervisory bodies through nationwide field missions and digital surveys spanning all academic regions of Chad. Findings revealed both progress and critical gaps in governance, digital infrastructure, connectivity, energy supply, educator training and the integration of digital skills into curricula.

In his keynote address on behalf of the State Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalization, emphasized that digital transformation has become indispensable for aligning education systems with technological advancements and evolving labor market demands. He stressed the government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools as a catalyst for modernizing Chad’s TVET sector.

Participants were tasked with refining the report to produce a pragmatic, inclusive strategy that reflects Chad’s unique socioeconomic context. Once finalized, the validated document will serve as the foundation for developing the 2026–2030 National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, with the ultimate goal of building a dynamic, employment-ready technical education system capable of meeting 21st-century workforce demands.
