Willy Mengue, a leading voice against Maurice Kamto’s disputed return as president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), has called on Equinoxe TV to ensure balanced coverage of political developments within the party.

This appeal follows Mamadou Mota’s appearance on the TV show “La vérité en face” last Sunday, where he defended Kamto’s return—a move Mengue describes as “fraudulent.”

In an open letter to Equinoxe TV’s CEO, Willy Mengue emphasized the need for fairness in reporting, journalistic integrity, and public access to information. He argued that the TV station should provide equal airtime to contesting factions if a direct debate isn’t possible.

«There is an urgent need to organize, if not a direct debate between the two factions, then at least a right of reply following the show “La vérité en face”, which addressed the disputed return of Professor Maurice Kamto to the MRC leadership. You gave the floor to political ally Mamadou Mota on this issue—journalistic ethics demand that you extend the same opportunity to the opposition, of which I am the representative.» Mengue wrote.

Equinoxe TV, known for its slogan «the people’s channel that goes beyond appearances,» has faced criticism for its coverage of the MRC’s internal crisis. Mengue stressed that balanced reporting would require granting the requested right of reply to ensure fairness.
