Manchester United edges Nottingham Forest in high-scoring Premier League thriller

The Red Devils secured their third-place finish in the Premier League with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, already confirmed for next season’s Champions League.
Manchester United delivered another attacking masterclass at Old Trafford, dominating their opponents despite a fiercely competitive Nottingham Forest side.
Luke Shaw delivered a moment of pure brilliance just four minutes in, firing home a first-time volley from outside the box. The English international had not scored in nearly three years, making his strike all the more special. The hosts controlled proceedings throughout the first half but failed to extend their lead despite several golden chances, including a header from Bryan Mbeumo that rattled the crossbar.
Nottingham Forest fight back
Forest showed resilience after the break, equalizing through Morato in the 53rd minute. The visitors capitalized on a lax marking from United’s defense to head in from a corner. However, Manchester United responded almost immediately when Casemiro converted a controversial penalty awarded after a VAR review deemed Mbeumo’s ball-to-hand incident in the box as intentional.
Fernandes sets new Premier League record
With a 20th assist of the season, Bruno Fernandes equaled the all-time Premier League record previously held by legends Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. Mbeumo finally got off the mark with a powerful header from Fernandes’ cross in the 76th minute. Forest kept the pressure on, pulling one back through Gibbs-White in the 78th, but United held firm to secure the win.
The victory cements Manchester United’s Champions League qualification while Forest continue their fight for domestic pride. Fernandes now has a chance to break the record in their final match against Brighton.
