Alternative crédible: a new political force unveils its vision for côte d’ivoire
A fresh political initiative, Alternative Crédible (ACR), was introduced to the media by its leaders on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam. This emerging movement aims to present a novel political offering to the nation.
Oxyde Tano, the national executive secretary of ACR and the primary speaker at the event, outlined the foundational principles, aspirations, and overarching vision of this political group. He emphasized its role as a crucial response to Côte d’Ivoire’s pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges.
Mr. Tano clarified that the initiative officially began on December 1, 2025, formed by a diverse collective of women, men, and young people united by a determination to introduce an innovative approach to politics within Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Mr. Tano, the establishment of ACR stems from a widely acknowledged reality: despite its considerable human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with significant hurdles. These include the rising cost of living, pervasive youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and widening social divides.
Identified as a left-leaning political movement, ACR firmly asserts its commitment to placing human well-being at the core of its agenda. Its ultimate vision for Côte d’Ivoire is a nation that is «just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and fully respectful of the rule of law».
Operating under the slogan «Tomorrow is decided today,» ACR is dedicated to fostering governance built on transparency, open dialogue, and a continuous pursuit of the common good. The movement’s long-term aspiration is to unite the nation’s dynamic forces around a trustworthy political platform, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.
ACR leaders outlined the core tenets of their political blueprint, which encompasses crucial areas such as youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, improving access to healthcare, modernizing agriculture, ensuring the safety of individuals and property, promoting women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, fostering economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.
Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s openness to engaging in dialogue with all political and social entities that uphold shared values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He assured that specific focus would be directed towards youth, women, laborers, economic stakeholders, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The national executive secretary further revealed that the movement’s official public launch is scheduled for August in Cocody. During this significant event, ACR President Bamba Abou will formally present the political vision and the key strategic directions of the movement’s program.
Leading up to this ceremony, the ACR plans to conduct nationwide awareness tours, general assemblies, establish local coordination bodies, and initiate national mobilization and membership campaigns across the entire territory.
Oxyde Tano concluded by stating, «The time has arrived to turn a new page in our history,» reiterating ACR’s commitment to building a Côte d’Ivoire that is «more just, stronger, and more prosperous.»
