Togo and DRC deepen ties to address East Congo crisis
In a significant diplomatic engagement, Lomé and Kinshasa have strengthened their bilateral alliance to tackle the escalating security challenges in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The high-level meeting took place in Pya, Kozah, where Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé welcomed Floribert Anzuluni, DRC’s Minister of Regional Integration, during his official diplomatic visit to Togo.
Tackling East Congo’s instability together
The discussions centered on reinforcing cooperation between the two nations, with a sharp focus on the volatile security situation in eastern DRC. Both leaders examined the critical security threats plaguing the region and explored pathways to restore stability through ongoing mediation efforts.
DRC’s recognition of Togo’s diplomatic leadership
Following the talks, Minister Anzuluni extended his appreciation to President Gnassingbé for his unwavering commitment to fostering a sustainable political resolution to the Great Lakes crisis. As African Union mediator for the region, Gnassingbé has been actively engaging with all stakeholders to find a lasting solution.
