The former presidential candidate Dr Ahoua Don Mello has announced the transformation of his support movement into a fully-fledged political party, unveiling a sovereignist and alternative project for Côte d’Ivoire’s future.
New political party launched in Côte d’Ivoire by Ahoua Don Mello
A historic turning point in Ivorian politics unfolded in Abidjan on July 11, 2026, as supporters and campaign team members of Dr Ahoua Don Mello formally resolved to establish a new political formation. This initiative marks a significant step toward enriching the national democratic debate and broadening the country’s political landscape.
Founding assembly endorses new political vision
During a plenary meeting held on July 11, participants overwhelmingly adopted a resolution to create a future political party. Dr Ahoua Don Mello was entrusted with leading the process toward its official launch. The gathering, widely attended and marked by strong consensus, reflected the growing momentum behind this sovereignist and reformist project.
The session was chaired by Ipou Ludovic, with Ahile Fernand (known as Léo Côte d’Ivoire) serving as recording secretary and Brou Jean-Baptiste as rapporteur. The preparatory work was guided by a reflection commission led by Me Sery Zokou and included prominent figures such as Kouamé Kouakou (OK), cabinet director, along with Claudel Guiguy, Askène Cissé, Franck Stéphane Dedy, and Arsène Touho. The final report, presented by Sery Sara Soko (Deputy Cabinet Director) with support from Mathieu N’Guatta (Cabinet Chief), Sara Dominique, Ami Traoré, and Danon Goubo Armel Fabrice (Atho Belé), emphasized the necessity of formalizing the movement into a structured political entity.
Core values and national ambition
The new party is positioned as a force for constructive proposals, unity, and democratic change. Its guiding principles include democracy, social justice, good governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and the defense of national sovereignty. The initiative seeks to contribute to the development and renewal of Côte d’Ivoire by offering an alternative path forward.
During the assembly, Dr Ahoua Don Mello expressed gratitude to attendees and outlined the foundational principles of the emerging political project. He issued a call to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to unite around this initiative, striving to build “a fairer, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign Côte d’Ivoire.”
The next milestone will be the “Congress of Pioneers,” the founding event of the party. While the exact date has not yet been announced, preparations have already begun. The closing session concluded on a note of brotherhood, cohesion, and hope, with participants reaffirming their commitment to building this new political force in the service of Côte d’Ivoire, Africa, and a multipolar world.
