new leadership for pobè: liamidi odouchinan takes mayoral office
The communal council of Pobè has officially chosen Liamidi Odouchinan as its new mayor this Wednesday, July 8. He steps into the role previously held by Clément Kouchadé, who was appointed to a ministerial position last May.

Pobè commune now operates under new leadership. Following a meeting of the communal council on July 8, Liamidi Odouchinan was successfully elected to head the municipal executive. His election concludes the transitional period that began with Clément Kouchadé’s departure for a cabinet role.
Odouchinan, an active member of the Union Progressiste Le Renouveau (UP Le Renouveau) party, previously served on the communal council as Clément Kouchadé’s alternate. He also held the significant position of chief of staff to the former mayor, giving him direct insight into the commune’s operations.
The vacancy in the mayoral office arose when Clément Kouchadé received an appointment as Minister of Secondary Education, Technical and Vocational Training. This key governmental role was assigned during the cabinet reshuffle on May 24, overseen by President Romuald Wadagni.
During the interim phase, before a new mayor could be elected, Koukpo Zinsou Côme, the first deputy mayor, temporarily assumed leadership. This arrangement was formalized through a prefectural decree issued on June 1, 2026, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the communal administration.
With his official election, Liamidi Odouchinan now fully takes charge of Pobè’s municipal affairs. He is tasked with steering the commune’s initiatives and advancing ongoing projects focused on local development and enhancing public services for the community.
