Morocco secures funding talks for trans-african gas pipeline project

Morocco is accelerating efforts to secure the necessary financing for the Trans-African Atlantic Gas Pipeline (GAA), a groundbreaking initiative developed in collaboration with Nigeria. The project aims to connect West African nations through a vast network of gas infrastructure, enhancing energy accessibility and economic integration across the region.

Rabat has formally approached the U.S. Export-Import Bank (US Exim Bank) and the World Bank to mobilize the $26 billion required for this ambitious venture. The discussions underscore Morocco’s strategic role in fostering regional energy cooperation and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels.
