Military convoy delivers 940 supply trucks safely to Bamako
Between June 23 and 29, Malian armed forces successfully escorted a convoy of 940 civilian supply trucks along the Kaïs-Sandari-Diema-Bamako route. The operation unfolded in two phases: first, troops accompanied 540 trucks from Kaïs to Sandari, then a second military detachment from Diéma merged with the convoy, integrating previously stranded vehicles until the total reached 940 before continuing toward Bamako.
The entire procession arrived in the capital without significant incidents, passing through multiple towns along this critical transport corridor.
This mission comes at a time when several major roadways in Mali face escalating security threats, compounded by ongoing fuel supply disruptions in Bamako. The Kayes-Bamako axis remains vital for trade, linking the capital to western regions and neighboring Senegal and Mauritania. It facilitates the movement of petroleum products, food supplies, industrial equipment, and other essential goods to local markets.
