Gabon Economic Forum 2026: fostering dialogue for private sector growth
« My hope is that tomorrow, the FEG will be recognized not just as a defender of businesses, but as a catalyst for their success. »
This vision was shared by Alain Claude Kouakoua, President of Gabon’s Fédération des Entreprises du Gabon (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF), held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès.
Designed as a high-level platform, the GEF brings together key decision-makers and international partners to address Gabon’s most pressing economic challenges. Kouakoua emphasized that no nation has achieved sustainable development without a robust private sector, positioning businesses not as peripheral actors but as the very engine of progress.
Echoing this commitment, Gabon’s Vice-President, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for private enterprise: « We will ensure that public finance reforms are implemented efficiently, so that payments owed to private companies are settled promptly. »
The forum’s overarching goal is clear: to lay the groundwork for a diversified, less resource-dependent economy, with a stronger focus on industrialization. By fostering open dialogue, the GEF aims to align stakeholders around shared economic priorities and accelerate progress.
