Enhancing the strengthened partnership between Morocco and France

The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a high-profile gathering in Rabat on July 14 to mark France’s National Day. Over 1,500 attendees gathered to celebrate the deepening ties between the two nations, with Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighting the evolving partnership rooted in shared aspirations.

Building tomorrow’s collaboration today

«Whether in Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, or Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—our discussions aren’t just about the future; they’re about actively shaping it, one step at a time,» remarked Lalliot. Present at the event was Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.

Strengthening bonds through shared vision

The ambassador underscored the broad scope of cooperation between Morocco and France, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, which reaffirmed France’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara region within the framework of international law. «Our two nations’ diplomacies work in unison to uphold the core principles that govern the global order and multilateral institutions,» he emphasized.

Lalliot also pointed out that «France stands as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade.» Looking ahead, he outlined key areas of bilateral progress, stressing the need to address «major upcoming milestones and shared challenges.»

Three pillars for the future

The ambassador identified three critical priorities: collaborating on international challenges to bolster security, supporting sectors that will drive tomorrow’s economies, and fostering stronger societal ties—especially among the youth, who represent the future of Moroccan-French relations. He also praised the «enduring human connection between our peoples,» which thrives through the dynamism of diaspora communities.
