Chad enforces ban on military attire for forestry agents
The Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development has issued a strict directive prohibiting forestry agents from wearing military uniforms, insignias, or any insignia associated with the Chadian National Army (ANT).
This new policy, signed by the ministry’s Secretary-General, Koularambaye Koundja Julien, addresses concerns over the unauthorized use of military-grade attire by personnel transferred from military service or civilian roles. Reports indicate that some agents have been observed sporting military bérets and rank insignia, which undermines the civilian nature of their duties.
strict enforcement and disciplinary consequences
The directive applies immediately, with central and regional supervisors tasked with monitoring compliance. Any forestry agent found in violation will face disciplinary action, ensuring adherence to the regulation. The move aims to clarify the distinction between military and civilian responsibilities within environmental protection agencies.
