Chad and Central African Republic strengthen border security with joint military efforts

The military authorities of Chad and the Central African Republic have intensified their collaborative initiatives to enhance safety along their shared border. A high-level strategic meeting, chaired by Brigadier General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, commander of the Chad-CAR joint force, took place recently to assess recent joint operations conducted in vulnerable border zones.

Operations Al-Hamamia: assessing impact and challenges

During the meeting, military leaders from both nations reviewed the outcomes of Operation Al-Hamamia 1 and Operation Al-Hamamia 2. These missions targeted cross-border threats, including banditry and illicit movements, while also identifying persistent security gaps in certain areas. Discussions highlighted the need for adaptive strategies to counter evolving threats.

New security strategy: Operation Sentinelle

Brigadier General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor approved a comprehensive operational plan for Operation Sentinelle, proposed by the G5 Sahel cell. This initiative aims to deploy reinforced military units equipped with both stationary and mobile surveillance posts. The goal is to intensify monitoring of suspicious activities, accelerate response times, and strengthen bilateral security cooperation between the two countries.

The enhanced framework will focus on protecting communities residing along the border and addressing transnational security challenges more effectively. By integrating advanced surveillance and rapid deployment capabilities, the joint force seeks to establish a more resilient security environment in this critical region.
