The escalating security challenges in the Sahel have prompted Chad and Burkina Faso to reinforce their bilateral defense collaboration. On Thursday, high-level discussions in Ouagadougou marked a renewed commitment to joint action against terrorist threats.
A high-powered delegation from Chad’s Ministry of Public Security and Immigration, led by Police Commissioner Mahamat Ibrahim Man Man, engaged in strategic talks with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana. The meeting focused on deepening security cooperation, with particular emphasis on counterterrorism measures.
« This gathering serves as a preparatory step for an upcoming joint cooperation commission between Burkina Faso and Chad, » explained Mbaï-Naïssem Isaac Chamir, Legal Advisor to Chad’s Minister of Public Security and a member of the delegation. « Our shared history and operational experiences provide a solid foundation for building an effective security framework tailored to regional realities. »
Chamir praised the warm reception extended to the Chadian delegation and expressed hope that these discussions would pave the way for a robust, sustainable, and mutually beneficial security partnership—one that fully respects each nation’s sovereignty.
The joint statement highlighted that the newly forged momentum between the two nations will continue to evolve through structured bilateral engagements, particularly within the framework of the upcoming joint commission.
